Overview

Phone numbers are essential for enabling your AI agent to make and receive calls. You can assign different numbers for various purposes, such as:

  • Inbound calls (customer calls your business)
  • Outbound calls (agent initiates call campaigns or automations)

Only Agency users can import phone numbers.

 Make sure Agency View is enabled in the client account footer for full access.

Import from Retell AI

You can import phone numbers linked to your Retell AI account directly into the platform.

Steps to Import:

  1. Go to the Settings > Phone Numbers tab inside the client account.
  2. Click Import and choose Retell AI as the source.
  3. Select one or more phone numbers from your connected Retell AI account.
  4. Click Import to complete the process.

Duplicate or already-linked numbers cannot be imported again.

Import from Vapi

If you’re using Vapi, follow the same import flow to bring in your phone numbers.

Steps to Import:

  1. Go to the Settings > Phone Numbers tab.
  2. Click Import and select Vapi.
  3. Choose the phone numbers you wish to import.
  4. Click Import to finalize.

Phone number support from Twilio is coming soon.

Best Practices

  • Use separate numbers for inbound and outbound agents for better tracking.
  • Assign the imported number in the Agent > Deploy tab.
  • Make sure your agent is properly configured before assigning a phone number.
